Synopsis

Detective Hanna becomes deeply conflicted when she discovers that her son is playing a crucial role as an undercover informant in the investigation of a brutal murder.

Challenges & Approach

My role was First Assistant Director for the later episodes of the original Swedish season. It was a fun and engaging project that included stunt scenes, firearms, and action sequences such as car chases and boat scenes. It was a great experience to manage these dynamic elements as a 1st AD, ensuring smooth coordination and safety on set, while also giving me valuable insight into how a director works.

The result

Before We Die or Innan Vi Dör has notably boosted the popularity of Scandinavian noir and highlighted global interest in quality non-English content. Praised for its writing, character development, and Marie Richardson’s performance, the series has also inspired international adaptations, including one in the UK, demonstrating its wide influence and appeal.
